فساد بیدادگرانه در دفتر قنسلی شهر "ونکور" کانادا

3 سپتامبر 2012, 08:43

Dear Sayeed Jawad Jan,
Thank you for a very truthful story about the office of General Consulate of Afghanistan in Vancouver, BC, Canada. As an example, though small but true of the nature of the reality on the ground. A few months ago we went to this office to get some paper travel documents done for us to help facilitate our trip back to Afghanistan. At our shock and disbelief, we were asked to pay in the amount of $30. It was shocking because at the website for Afghan Embassy in Ottawa and its consulates, such services are listed as free of any charge for Afghan citizens. So we inquired and received an answer to either pay the money and get the damn paperwork done with or leave. So we found ourselves with no choice but to pay the money. We were still thinking it might be part of THIS office’s processing fee so we asked if we could pay with debit or credit card at which point the serviceman got mad and answered " WE ARE NOT THERE WITH THOSE MACHINES YET; GIVE ME CASH". We eventually handed him the cash and we were asked to wait outside until they get the paperwork done. We finally got the document which was very unprofessionally done. There is no issuance of date on it. Our last names are not even on it. And a few other crucial missings. But we were very glad to have managed to at least get something from this office back. For a moment it brought all the memory of when you were back in Afghanistan and you could get nothing done unless you bribed the office holder.
It is amazing to see how bad it is when you end up expecting a service from an Afghan government office.
It is a very sad fact of life to go and hope to receive service from Afghans.
A corrupt government, a corrupt representative.
