Afghans relaxing at Qargha Lake

Qargha Lake to the immediate west of Kabul is one of the few weekend gateways for Kabulis during the spring and summer months.

People go on Fridays to this lake and spend the whole day with their families resting, swimming, boating, cooking and hiking. The proximity and the scarcity of other nearby picnic areas have made this site very popular.
