Nancy Hatch Dupree speaks to the media at the opening of the Afghanistan Centre at Kabul University.
Mrs Dupree, author of five books on Afghanistan, laid the foundation stone of the new centre.
The centre, a one-storey building, will house more than 30,000 volumes of work cataloguing the political and social life of Afghanistan in the last thirty years.
Since her arrival in Afghanistan, in the 1960s Mrs Dupree, 81, has dedicated her life to collecting anything and everything ever written about the country.
